Bill was born to Lula Mae Temple on April 6, 1932 and raised in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country for 27 years as a Flight Engineer, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.
On July 3, 1955 he married the love of his life, Jo Danielson. Together they shared the life of a military family, moving across the country from Hawaii to Alaska. Bill's final assignment was to Dyess AFB where he was stationed in 1973. He retired from the Air Force and together with his family decided to call Abilene home.
He was loved and admired by many in the Abilene community. Bill was a prolific giver, serving on multiple boards and participating in many service organizations. He was a long time member and Elder of First Central Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 1pm Tuesday December 16th with visitation in the church parlor Monday December 15th 6-7:30pm.
Throughout his life he was a constant inspiration to his family who will cherish his memory. Bill is survived by his wife, Jo, his daughter Kimberlee Spencer Rufca, husband, Richard Rufca and grandson Matthew Spencer Rufca. His daughter, Lou Spencer. His son, Eric William Spencer, wife Tina Spencer, granddaughter Sydney Drew Spencer and grandson Jackson William Spencer.
