William was born on August 2, 1949 in Breckenridge, Texas to the late Leamon “L.R.” and Doreen R. (Carpenter) Guinn. He graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene in 1967. He married the late Kathy Hartley and together they raised their four children. He worked many years in the Oil Field before an injury caused him to retire early. William would never claim to be perfect but was a faithful Christian man. He was not only the father to his children but to many others as well who did not have one. Saying he was a family man is an understatement. He went above and beyond to see that those he loved and cared for were taken care of, family or friend. He was extremely handy, and could fix almost anything and was never too proud to let you know he did not work with electricity. He enjoyed puzzles of any kind, creating fun memories with his family, or just going on a simple ride. He lived life to the fullest and meant so much to those around him. His passing leaves a hole in the heart of all the lives he touched along the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leamon and Doreen Guinn; his wife, Kathy L. Guinn; his son, Martin Lee Guinn; his sister, Marion Burgoon, and his sister-in-law, Patricia Hartley.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, children, Lillie Davis and husband Anthony of Abilene, Spc. William Harvey Guinn Jr., U.S. Army and wife Monica of Fort Stewart, Georgia, and Amy Guinn and boyfriend Dustin Barnett of Abilene, and special daughter at heart, Janet Barnett; his grandchildren, Isabelle Russell, Hope Guinn, Walter Guinn, Faith Guinn, Leamon Guinn; numerous others grands and great-grands at heart who he loved and cared about. He is also survived his sisters, Marcia Boggess, and Betty Potter; a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends that were more like family.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.elliott-hamil.com for the Guinn family.
