Funeral services for Vickie Jean Morton, 60, of Abilene, Texas, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene.
Vickie was born on September 3, 1955 in Abilene to the late Jesse Lee and Nona Faye (Summers) Steele. She passed from this life on Tuesday morning, April 12, 2016, at the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene following a sudden illness.
Vickie received her Bachelors in Psychology from Liberty University in 1993 and later obtained her Licensed Vocational Nurse and Registered Nurse certifications through Texas State Technical College. She was currently working as a Registered Nurse at the Abilene State Supported Living Center. Vickie had also worked as a customer service representative at John Korman Insurance and worked as the branch manager for the Texas State Low Cost Insurance while going to school for her LVN license. She volunteered at the NOAH Project in the 1990's and had previously attended the University Baptist Church.
Vickie is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Carolyn Wood and Tammy Steele.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lee Edmond of the home; son, John Stark and his wife Crystal of College Station, Texas; daughter, Safirrea Renfro of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary Grubbs, Jacob Grubbs, Zane Jackson, Abigail Stark, Nehemiah Renfro, Kaleihya Renfro and Malachai Renfro; great grandson, Carson Grubbs; brothers, Jess L. Steele, Jr. and wife Lea of Abilene, Texas, Olen Steele of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeff Steele and wife Janie of Prosper, Texas; and a sister, Kelly Heller and husband Ryan of San Antonio, Texas.
