He was born on January 29, 1947 to Billie Margaret (Melton) and Thomas Julian Newman in McMinnville, Tennessee. He grew up in Abilene, Texas. Wayne spent 20 years in Fuels in the United States Air Force. He met his wife Hoa thi Nguyen in Vietnam and married in 1971 at the Dyess Chapel. They have been married for 51 years. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at Dyess AFB and ended his career at Dyess in 1986. Wayne was stationed at multiple bases during his military career, he did his basic at Lackland AFB, then got stationed at Little Rock. He volunteered to go to Vietnam and when he returned in 1971 he was stationed in Houston (Ellington AFB) with his new family. They moved to Abilene and he got orders to the Arctic Circle and on his return they moved to Big Springs (Webb AFB), then Lubbock (Reese AFB) and back to Abilene (Dyess AFB). After retirement he became employed with the United States Postal Service where he worked for 35 years.
Funny, Sweet, Genius, and Giving are just a few words that describe Wayne. Everyone that met him would always say how nice he was and how they really liked him. He loved some good oldies music, trivia, cars and going to the gun range when he was able. He loved his family!
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Billy Newman. He is survived by his wife, Hoa Newman, his daughter Deppye (Paul) May, and his son, Tomas (Anna) Newman along with multiple grandkids and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters Betty Bowman and Peggye Baldwin and brother Bruce Newman.
