Her heartbroken family announces the passing of Summer Nicole Thomas Stranges on April 8, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her loving family was at her side when she passed away.
She was strong-willed, stubborn, generous, and brave. These qualities served her well by giving her the strength she needed to meet the challenges presented by life and cancer.
Summer loved Life, Nick, Colson, her family and friends, Texas, Schlitterbahn, her golden retriever, Gracie, her cats, Nova and Chevy, flip-flops, nail polish, shopping, and the color pink.
She was born June 29, 1981, to Theresa and Leslie (Sonny) Thomas in Austin, TX, and raised in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Cooper High School in 1999. On December 24, 2010, she married Nicholas Stranges and the US Air Force, which took them from Abilene to Aviano, Italy, back to Texas, and then to Arizona for the last 6 1/2 years. Summer's proudest achievement came on July 30, 2014, when she landed her dream career as Colson's mom.
She is survived by her husband, Nick; son, Colson; father, Sonny Thomas, and his wife, Bird; mother, Theresa Lollis, and husband, George Lollis; and many cousins, all of whom will miss her presence in their lives. We will continue to be inspired and uplifted by Summer's brave spirit.
We also want to thank all of our family and many friends who have prayed numerous prayers over the last 3 years for Summer's recovery. 💜
We will be welcoming friends and family to join us for Summer's Celebration of Life at Remington Ridge Church of Christ, 138 Remington Road, Abilene, Texas, on April 25th at 5:00 PM to visit with the family. A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at 6:00 PM, also at the church.
We invite you to leave condolences and memories on her online guestbook.
