Sue Wood

Sue Wood, 88, of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at a local medical center. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, February 5, 2018 in the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 4 to 7pm on Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Sue was born on April 25, 1929 to Elbert and Beulah Ballard in Attala, Mississippi. She loved gardening and was a member of a bowling league. She retired from Hendrick Medical Center where she had worked as a Ward Secretary on C7.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vaughney Wood; 2 brothers; and a grandson.

Survivors include her son, Scotty Wood and wife Mary of Abilene; granddaughter, Kimberly Coleman and husband Christopher of Spring, Texas; and 3 great grandchildren, Parker, Amanda Grace, and Walker Coleman all of Spring, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels.
