Steven was born on February 12, 1991 in Abilene, TX. He graduated from Wylie High School in 2010 where he had excelled as a student-athlete. During his senior year, he was chosen as second-team all-district in football and first-team all-district in soccer, while maintaining athletic prowess in other sports. He then later attended Blinn College before moving to Pembroke Pines, Florida where he owned and operated a landscape and lawn maintenance company.
Steven had a contagious smile and a heart of gold. Truly loving his family he remained fiercely protective of his younger sisters. Steven’s compassion and love however did not stop here, as the young Eagle Scout clearly just loved life in every aspect. This was obvious in his attitude towards his passion in life, that of his love towards animals. Having never met a dog (or cat or rabbit or lizard or fish or crab or duck) which he didn’t love. Let it also be known that Steven was loyal. Loyalty to family & friends is perhaps his defining characteristic.
Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Polly Cottner.
Survivors include his parents, Dan and Grettel of Abilene; his brother, Robert of Seattle, WA; his brother, Michael; and two sisters, Katherine and Gabriella all of Abilene; his grandmother, Olga Jimenez of Miami, FL; uncles, David Cottner of Miami, FL, Randy Jimenez of Pembroke Pines, FL, and William Daly of Orlando, FL; as well as numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Humane Society or Animal Rescue Center/Shelter in memory of Steven.
