Services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 9:30 AM in the chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Highway 277 S., in Abilene with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM, also at the funeral home.
Shawn was born to Ricky Joseph Gaston and Ruth Marie (Nash) Gaston on January 10, 1978. In 1978, the family relocated to Abilene where he was raised. He attended Johnston, Mann, and graduated from Abilene High School in 1996. He went on to further his education at Cisco and Blinn Junior Colleges. He also obtained his certificate in project management. Shawn was always adventurous and lived life awaiting the next great adventure. He loved Halloween where he always was sure to have amazing costumes. He lived abroad many years in Turkey and Okinawa. He also lived in Colorado where he loved being near the mountains. He enjoyed traveling nationally and internationally, creating many special memories with his family and friends. He and his family have been long time members of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He will be remembered as caring, always willing to lend a helping hand, and loyal to those he cared about.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jeremy Gaston; paternal grandparents Bob Gaston and Ethelyn Clements; maternal grandparents William and Naomi Nash; and uncles Bill Riddick, David Clements, and Kenny Ridsdale.
He is survived by his parents Ricky and Ruth Gaston; brothers Jason Gaston and his wife Linda, and Adam Gaston and his wife Gwendolyn; niece and nephews Alyssa Ashley, Gavin Gaston, Caden Gaston, Miles Gaston and Jack Gaston; and aunts and uncles Patricia Riddick, Kenneth and Judy Nash, Steven Gaston and Lori Campbell, Robert Gaston, Sharon Ridsdale, and Mark and Kathy Clements.
