Sandra Jane Jones

Sandra Jane Jones, of Merkel, Texas, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the age of 78. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 5 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 6, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.

Jane was born in Tye, Texas on December 6, 1937 to Wesley H. Rister and Dalma C. Rister. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1956. Jane married Eddie Hugh Jones on December 18, 1955 in Abilene, Texas. Aside from being a military wife and spending time in numerous locations around the world, Jane was involved in both the Garden Club and Book Club in Merkel. She also enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Eddie. Jane is survived by two sons, Wesley Jones of Merkel, Jeffery Jones and his wife Candie of Merkel; three grandchildren, including Amy Jones of Lubbock, Texas, Ryder Thomas of Abilene and Nicole Thomas of Merkel; and several nieces and nephews.
