Sammy Leal, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was born December 9, 1948, in Abilene, to Palfilo and Tula Leal. He was a 1968 graduate of Abilene High School. He served 25 years in the United States Army/Army Reserved. He was a mechanic most of his life both as a civilian
and in the military. Sammy truly lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing ball and coaching in his younger days and continued to do so from the sidelines at his grandkids games. He also enjoyed watching Texas Ranger baseball and listening to tejano music. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend to many. Preceded in death by his parents. Leal, both of Abilene; son, Jonathan Leal of Abilene; grandchildren, Inez, Antonio, Tristen, Laila, Miela, Illiana, and Izabellah all of Abilene; sister, Lupe and her husband, Martin Rodriguez of Abilene; brother, Benny Leal of Abilene; his companion, Amelia Gonzales of Abilene; his nieces, Melissa Rodriguez of Abilene and Laurie of Houston; and his nephews Anthony and wife Dina Rodriguez of Lubbock, and Benny Leal, Jr. of Houston. Funeral Service will be held 11:30AM on Friday, December
1, 2017, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, with Rosary beginning at 7:00PM, on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the funeral home located at 542 Hickory St.
