Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 277. S. in Abilene with Pastor Oran Rake officiating. Burial will follow at Baird Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 1-3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Ruth was born on August 23, 1934 in Portland, Ohio to the late Carlos M. and Matilda M. (McCloud) Walton. She attended high school in Racine, Ohio where she was a proud majorette and graduated in 1952. She followed her family to Texas where she settled in Abilene in 1961. She married William “Doc” Reid on March 24, 1962, together they shared a wonderful marriage and created many memories together with family. She was a devoted homemaker. She was the family’s song bird and relished in any opportunity to sing. She enjoyed karaoke at the senior center, sewing, and any other crafts. She loved her family immensely and her legacy of love will live in the hearts of them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Robert Walton.

She is survived by her devoted husband, William “Doc” Reid; two sons, Chuck Bailey and his wife, JoAnn, Roger Bailey and his wife, Sheila; two daughters, Starr Gregory and her husband, Lee, Carla Morgan and her husband, Guy; two brothers, Dale and Paul Walton; 8 grandchildren; and host of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephew’s other relatives and friends.

One of Ruth’s final bucket list items, that she was not able to complete, was to Zip-Line. The next opportunity you get to Zip-Line do it in her honor and memory.
