A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 pm on Monday July 10th 2023 in the Elliott-Hamill Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South followed by burial in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Richard was born Dec 19, 1949, in Altus OK to Wayne Justice Reed and Stella (Looper) Reed. Richard grew up in various cities in Texas. In 1970, he met and married his wife Diana Redding Reed in Vernon, TX and they settled in Anson, TX. In the early 90’s they made Abilene their home. Richard worked as a truck driver until his retirement. His favorite hobby when he was younger was dirt track racing on the weekends with his sons. He enjoyed building the cars and racing them out at the dirt track.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Diana Reed; his parents Wayne and Stella Reed; his son Richard Justice Reed; his sisters, Pauletta Elrod of Anson, Shirley Garrett of Mt Vernon, and Dorothy Bowen of Clyde, and his brother Henry Reed of Stamford.
He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Runnels and husband Brian and Tiffany Reed of Abilene; his son David Reed and wife Donna; his seven grandchildren, Cadman Runnels of Jemison, AL, Erika Runnels, Neecole Ramirez and husband Ray of Abilene, Sydney Reed and Taylor Reed of Hamlin, Mason and Alisa Reed of Abilene; two great grandsons, C.T. and Wayne Runnels of Jemison, Al. He is also survived by one brother, Larry Reed and wife Patricia of Haskell, TX.
