Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, with Pastor Steven Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Richard was born January 14, 1936 to William J. Proctor and Mary E. Hutchins Proctor in Kansas City, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and Air Force for 22 years. Richard was a local musician. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Abilene.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Lavern Proctor; and a daughter, Penny Proctor.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Proctor of Abilene, Steven Proctor of Dallas, and Monty Campbell of Arizona; four daughters, Jeannette Berry of Sherman, Texas, Donna Swindle of Tuscola, Texas, Phylis Thrasher of New Braunfels, Texas, and Michelle Campbell of Arizona; three brothers, Michael Proctor, Norman Proctor, and Jerry Proctor, all of California; two sisters, Bea Divine and Donna Freed, both of California; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
