Richard F. Kincaid

My Status changed on Friday June 9, 2023 and I am now on my next journey. I was in Abilene, TX when it occurred.

A visitation will be at 9am on Friday June 16, 2023 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home in Abilene,TX 79606.

This part of my life started on the 28th of August 1936 in Pampa, Texas. My mother was Ada Corinne Young and my father Walter Glenn Kincaid. I later had two brothers, Walter Michael and David Young.

When I was very young we moved a lot in West Texas, even McCamey!

I started school in Houston, Texas at Garden Villas Elementary School with Mrs. Gomez, the best teacher I ever had. From there I attended schools in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, Abilene, Texas, Big Spring, Texas, graduating from Abilene High School in 1954. Then came a few years at The Rice Institute, finishing at Hardin-Simmons University in 1959. I worked at Elliott's Funeral Home, where I met my future wife, Jo Ann Elliott.

There was a military draft requirement then so I attended R.O.T.C. while in H-SU and after graduation entered the U.S. Army as an Armor officer. The Army took me to Mannheim, Germany ( three times), Vietnam (twice), Forts Knox( twice), Dix, Hood and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and several temporary duty locations. After twelve years in the Army, I enlisted in the US Air force. After 20 years of service to the military, I retired in 1980. I lived in Austin and returned to Abilene in December 1998.

My mother lived with me and she accompanied me on most of my assignments; she especially liked Germany. After retirement I traveled back to Germany several times, also Russia, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Cuba, Canada and several places in the US.

I didn't marry until I was 64. I married Jo Ann Elliott in 2000. We had a wonderful marriage until 2007. Three years later she passed away.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Kincaid and nephew Donald Kincaid.

My survivors include my younger brother Walter Michael and his wife Sharon, their sons Michael and Tol and their children and grandchildren; nephews Buddy Kincaid and family; Dale Kincaid and family.

What's next? Who knows? I think I'll find answers to questions I've had for a long time.

Hopefully I'll get to places I never got to during this lifetime. Surely I will get to dance all I want to.
