Graveside Services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery at 2:00 PM, an escorted procession will leave Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home at 1:30 PM. The family will receive guest for a visitation on Monday, December 28 from 6-8:00 PM at Elliott-Hami 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene.
Raymond was born on February 29, 1948 in Shelby, Mississippi to the late Raymond, Sr. and Rosalie (Favalara) Guajardo. He grew up in a large family and made many memories with his siblings. He learned the value of hard work at an early age alongside his parents, and brothers and sisters. Raymond joined the United States Army in 1967 and served his country both faithfully and proudly. He was wounded in combat and received a Bronze Star. He worked for Dyess Air Force base for many years until he retired. He was a member of American Legion and VFW. In later years he would attend RISE Church with some of his family members. He was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all in his lifetime. He was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. He is loved beyond words and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Angelita Guajardo; brother, Fred Guajardo; and sister, Petra Webb.
He is survived by his children, Darlene Ramirez and husband Esa, Michelle Guajardo and husband Mauro, Joe Guajardo, Ashley Guajardo and Michael Guajardo; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Ernest, Reyes, Samuel, James, and Eddie Guajardo; sisters, Rosalie O’Con, Patricia Moore, and Eleanor Guajardo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
