Percilla was the first born to Albert and Essie Merchant on June 21, 1951 in Abilene, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Macedonia Baptist Church. She attended Woodson Elementary School and was one of four students to integrate Lincoln Junior High. She graduated in 1969 from Abilene High School. Percilla later worked at Timex Watch Factory for a season then furthered her education by attending Business College and studied secretarial skills. She worked for Conn Instrument for several years. In 1973, Percilla married Richard Green and to this, union two children were born. After a few years passed and while being a great mother, she nurtured two very sick children during a very trying time. At a later season, she entered into college with her daughter to obtain a degree from Cisco Jr. College and eventually Hardin Simmons University. What a challenge it was to be a homemaker, mother, pastor’s wife, and to achieve graduating with her daughter while earning Cum laude honors! She received her BBS degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising. Percilla was later employed by AISD where she passionately taught and mentored her students. The paramount love of her life is God. In every facet of her life, she strove to walk the path that God laid out for her. It is only fitting that now Precilla is finally seeing her Savior face-to-face after pursuing Him for over seventy-two years.
Percilla leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of fifty years Richard Green; two children, Tiffanie and Richard ”RGII”; a daughter-in-law, Katie; one stepson Terence of San Diego, CA; a brother, Albert Merchant and Laura of Dallas, Texas; in-laws, Rev. Floyd Green(Rev. Sandra), Rev. James Greene(Rev. Debra), Rosie Green, Claudette Green, Lonnie Green and Evelyn Green; grandchildren, Cami Sweet, Terence II, Bria and Keira Green; as well as a great host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
