Patsy was born on October 21, 1933 in Paducah, Texas to Henry (Shorty) & Beryl West. She was raised in Haskell, Texas alongside her two brothers and three sisters.
She lived in Haskell until the age of 16, when she met the love of her life Bonnie "B.J." Williamson at the County Fair. They married on her 17th birthday and then moved to Abilene, Texas in 1950.
Once her children were old enough to attend grade school, she began working in food service for the Abilene School District, which allowed her to be home early in the afternoon to be with her children. She later took the same position at Abilene Christian University where she worked with her sister Tillie and daughter Donna for many years. After a few years of retirement, she returned to food service to work at her granddaughter’s school, Abilene Christian Schools, where she worked until her granddaughter’s graduation and her final retirement in 2001.
Patsy was a devoted wife for nearly 58 years, exemplifying unwavering love and commitment in her marriage. Bonnie and Patsy shared an affinity for travel. They took great joy in trips across the United States, often with family, and time spent at their lake house on Hubbard Creek Lake.
As a mother of two, she nurtured her children with boundless care and instilled in them the values of compassion and resilience. Her legacy extended through five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who cherished the warmth of her love.
Beyond her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother, she was a dedicated Christian, finding solace and strength in her faith. Following her baptism, she became a lifelong member of the 16th and Vine Church of Christ until its closing in 1994, then attended The Westgate Church of Christ. Her life reflected the teachings of faith, love, and compassion. Her unwavering commitment to her spiritual community and family defined her journey. Her life was a testament to the principles of kindness, forgiveness, and service to God. Her presence will be dearly missed, but her teachings and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
To her grandchildren, she was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and faith. She gracefully navigated the orneriness of four grandsons and one precious granddaughter, leaving them with a legacy of love, wisdom, and cherished memories. Some of her family’s most treasured memories are times spent around a bountiful table full of laughter and love. Her gentle and occasionally stern touch will be dearly missed, but her impact on our hearts will forever endure.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years Bonnie “B.J.” Williamson; three sisters Naida Williamson, Tillie Griggs, and Jan Couch; two brothers RD West and Dalton West; and one grandson Bobby Law Williamson
She is survived by her children Ron Williamson and Donna Scott; her husband Jerry; grandchildren Tony Wink, Toby Williamson (wife Courtney), Jurel Scott (wife April), and Krystal Hutcheson (husband Stephen); four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
