Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 North 2nd Street, Abilene, with Robert Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home before the service.
Minot was born July 20, 1930 to Clifford Piper and Bernice Behren Piper in Blue Hill, Maine. He served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years. There were many things that Minot enjoyed doing including flying, especially the planes that he built himself; rebuilding antique cars and being a member of the Ford Antique Club; fishing in the Ozarks in Arkansas; and traveling to other countries. Minot was a Protestant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Genevieve Piper; a sister, Patty Starkweather; brothers, Richard Piper, Barney Piper, and Clifford Piper Jr.; and a grandson, Sean Minot Piper.
Survivors include his wife, Pilar Piper of Abilene; a son, David Piper and wife, Leslie, of Oklahoma; two daughters, Linda Barris and husband, Les, of Arkansas and Valerie VanDyke and husband, Gerry, of Idaho; a step-daughter, Jeanette Reed and husband, Charles, of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Danny Piper and Artie Piper, both of Florida; a sister, Susan White of New England; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
