Michael Ezell Simmons

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, Abilene, with Reverend Danny Edmond officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the funeral home.

“Mike” was born October 9, 1964 in Abilene, Texas to Ezell and Helen Simmons. He attended Abilene High School and Cisco Junior College, where he excelled at basketball. Mike served his country in the United States Army for several years. He was an avid sports fan, with basketball being his passion. Mike was loved and adored by his family and friends. He had a gentle soul and a loving heart, which will be sorely missed by all that loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfathers.

Survivors include his parents, Ezell and Helen Simmons of Abilene; daughter, Ebony Simmons of Rockwall, Texas; stepdaughter, Alicia Walker of Rockwall, Texas; three brothers, Victor Simmons and wife, Michele, of Abilene, Gregory Bell and wife, Simone, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Thomas Simmons of Abilene; one sister, Cymanthia Evans and husband, Paul, of Amarillo, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces; and numerous friends.
