Michael David Oden

Michael David Oden, 63, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at a local hospital in Abilene, TX. Graveside services will be held at 3:00p.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Austin Anglea officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael was born on July 19, 1950 in Abilene and lived his entire life here in Abilene. He attended AISD schools where he enjoyed playing all sports; basketball, football, and baseball. Michael joined the Navy in August of 1969 and served four tours in Vietnam. After serving his country, he worked as a truck driver for twenty years or more.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond and Nelda Oden; and his siblings, Mark, Roger, and Jackie Oden.

Survivors include his best friend and lifelong companion, Judy Oden Shannon of Abilene; his brothers, Raymond Oden and family of Abilene, and Clifford Oden and family of Houston; his daughters, Alleen (Pixie) Prince of Abilene, Maria Feemster and husband, Edward of Abilene, and Brenda Franks of Houston; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
