A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 North 2nd Street, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the funeral home.
Born in Riverton, Wyoming on April 4, 1937, Michael was the son of Francis Michael and Edith McCoy. Michael graduated from Riverton High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served four years in the Navy and was honorably discharged in January, 1960. Michael married Jacqueline Reeb August 21, 1960. He served twenty-five years in the Wyoming National Guard and retired April 4, 1997. In 1998, he relocated to Abilene, Texas to be closer to his family.
Michael was a great lover of anything outdoors. He loved to fish in his favorite river, the Popo Agie, and enjoyed camping and hunting in the mountains of Wyoming.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Edith McCoy; brothers, Francis Michael McCoy Jr. and Patrick Arthur McCoy; sister-in-law, Catherine McCoy; niece, Cynthia McCoy; and son-in-law, Stanley Hutson.
Michael is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Abilene; his son, Michael John McCoy Jr. and wife, Maryann, of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; his daughters, Shawnie Lynn McCoy and Patricia Lee Hutson, both of Abilene, Texas; and his brother, Jack Lee McCoy and wife, Sherry, also of Abilene, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
