Michael Wayne Cagle, 74, of Abilene, Texas went home to be with Jesus on March 6, 2024, after a recent diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. He was surrounded by his wife Eileen and his daughter Sarah Pittman. He is no longer suffering or in any pain because he has been completely healed in Heaven. For this promise we are grateful.
A visitation for Michael will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79606. A service will follow at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. A luncheon will follow the service also at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
Michael was a proud Vietnam War veteran who loved to talk about being in the helicopter during his time of service to our country. The sound of an airplane or helicopter excited his spirit and made him giddy, reminiscing on his younger years. He loved to gather around his mother’s table with his cherished siblings Carole Collins, Willard Cagle, and Kimberly Cagle and share stories dripping with mischief that only the closest of siblings share as their mother Lois looked on and listened in disbelief. But more than anything else, Michael loved Jesus and would want all who hear his story to know that God is faithful. He knew God is more satisfying than anything the world has to offer, and he would want you to know Jesus’ blood is healing.
Simple things brought happiness to Michael. He loved to spend time out on his boat, unsuccessfully catching fish, but happy to be sharing tender moments with his loving wife. He cherished his time worshiping God at church with his family. One of his greatest blessings was being “grandpa” to his sweet grandson Shepherd and his newest granddaughter NellyClair. NellyClair came at just the right time to be another bright spot to him in his final days.
Michael is survived by his wife Eileen; daughter Sarah and her husband Marcus; his grandchildren Shepherd and NellyClair; his loving siblings Carole and her husband Doug, Willard and his wife Marr Shan, and Kimberly; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Those who have had the privilege to know him will know he would not want you to mourn, but to be joyful that he is in Heaven with Jesus welcomed by his wonderful parents Willard and Lois.
