Mary E. Rodriguez, 65, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2011 with her family by her side in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends for a visitation at 6:00p.m. with a Rosary from 7:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
She was born November 16, 1945 in Ordway, CO. Mary proudly served as a Contract Manager at Dyess AFB for 30 years. She received numerous Achievement and Excellence Awards including the prestigious Hennessee Award in Chicago, IL. Mary's hobbies included going to the casino, estate sales and supporting her family. For 13 years she was an active parishioner at Dyess AFB Chapel where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Above all, spending time with her family brought her the most joy.
Mary was known by many names including Mom, Grandma Mary, Grams and GiGi Mary. Mom was strong, independent, and the rock to her entire family. Her life was spent touching countless others. We were so blessed that God chose you to be our Mother. We will love and miss you always.
Special thanks to Dr. Shudde, Dr. Johnson, and all medical staff that helped us care for our mother through her journey.
Preceding her in death were her parents Miguel and Victoria Gonzales; a brother Johnny; and sisters Elenor and Rita.
She is survived by her seven children. Her sons Gary Rodriguez, Johnnie Rodriguez and fiance' Kim Miranda; her daughters Ruby (Jerry) Hubbard, Jeannie Bower, Lori (Gary) McDonald, Melinda (Peter) Jimenez and Janette (Dennis) Wright; grandchildren Cassandra (Ty) Newman, Valarie Ivester, Garrett Rutledge, Roman Rodriguez, Andrew (Marie) Hubbard, Bobbie Ivester, Ashley Rapp and Heather Olmos; great-grandchildren Blake, Jadrian, Jordyn, McKenzie, Dae'Evian, Jared and Austin; brothers Rudy, Sammy, Richard and Arthur; and sisters Betty, Gloria , Beverly and Anita.
Until we see you again in Heaven. We love you always and forever.
