Mary Ellen Rains Patterson

Mary Ellen Rains Patterson was finally called home on May 23, 2016 after a lengthly illness. She is now attending a huge family reunion in Heaven with her parents, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends. She has been looking forward to this day for over 20 years, not realizing the Good Lord had more for her to do, than her family. There were times during this 20 years that she longed to be with her family. We would ask her - "What are we chopped liver?"

Mary has had many jobs during her 77 1/2 years here. She worked at a cleaners, school cafeteria, at Abilene Regional Hospital, as a realtor here in Abilene, and owner of Goldfinger Antiques. Her most rewarding position was being the wife of "Pat" Archie T. Patterson for 58 1/2 years. They were married in Merkel TX on 8/29/58. Her most challenging was being the mother of Randall S. Patterson of Abilene and Patricia Windham Davis of Covington TX.

Mary was Blessed with 4 grandsons, Patrick Shane, Richard Sean, Michael Scott and Austin Ryan Windham. Her most joy has come in the last 3 years by the birth of Lila Belle, daughter of Shane & Kayla of Bosier City, LA and Colton James, son of Sean and Jamie of Hillsboro TX.

All the family has Mary and her sisters to thank for our plus size clothing and dish pan hands. Mary was a wonderful cook who would feed everyone who stepped foot into her home. We believe Mary and her sisters had a pact to brainwash their daughters, with the rule that when you went to someone's home you must do the dishes! Mary had a beautiful, contagious smile that we all will miss. Her family, numerous nieces and nephews are very thankful for the time the Lord has allowed Mary to Love, guide, encourage, threaten and convince us she had eyes in the back of her head!

A memorial service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Saturday May 28, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St.

The family requests that donations be made to Hendrick Hospice in lieu of flowers. Love you and will see you later Mom...
