Martha was born on March 5, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Clifford Clay Huff and Ima Lou (Osborn) Huff. At a young age, the family moved to Hamby where she grew up. She was a proud member of the first graduating class from the new Abilene High School at the time. She married Samuel “Ed” Kirkman on December 25, 1957, in Abilene. They made Abilene home and raised their two children here. She worked as a secretary for Sr. Pete Palasota for many years. After retirement, she worked with her husband at Atlas Machine and then Ed Kirkman Properties. In the past, she and her husband enjoyed bowling together and traveling the world.
Since 1986, she has been a Christian Witness for Jehovah God-Jehovah’s Witnesses Worldwide Organization. The most pleasure she received in life, besides her two children and loving husband, was to discuss the scripture with anyone who would listen. She was active in the local South Congregation. Her greatest desire was to see God’s Kingdom bring peace to mankind and healing of all sickness, no more war, and bring the earth back to a Paradise condition.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel “Ed” Edwin Kirkman, Sr.; and brothers, Tommy, Dicky and Bob Huff.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Sue Johnson and her husband Kris; son, Sam Kirkman, Jr.; her brother, Johnny Huff; grandchildren, Ethan Kirkman, Kristen Muterspaugh and James Kirkman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Jehovah’s family, brothers and sister of Kingdom Hall Abilene – (Highland).
