Marie Sherrod

Marie Sherrod, 95, was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, February 27, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 2:00p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., Abilene. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born on May 7, 1919 in Seagoville, TX to R.L. and Mary Berry. She was married to David W. Sherrod on Saturday, January 15, 1955. They were married for 31 years. Marie retired from AISD from the accounting department and she was also a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Sewing and reading were some of her favorite pastimes. Most importantly, she loved her family and her family loved her. She will be very missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Bruce Sherrod and his wife, Terry; a daughter, Janice Cain, her husband, Michael, and her stepson David Sherrod and wife, Kim of Tacoma, Washington; a sister, Helen Cross of Ft. Collins, Colorado; four grandchildren, Wesley Sherrod and his wife, Tabatha of Abilene, Wendy Sherrod of Abilene, Melissa Palmer and her husband, Tim of Spangdhalen, Germany, and Julie Ehler and her husband, Jason of San Antonio, TX; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins,several sister-in-laws, and close friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to her church, First United Methodist Church, Abilene or to Cook Children's Medical Center.
