Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, with Reverend Rodney Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Marcus Jimenez, Charly Holsenbeck, Lance Stribbling, Nathan Gray, David Hendricks, Keith Hendricks, Michael McKelvey, and Arlan Hollingsworth. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Marcene "Marcie" was born December 26, 1939 to Opal (Hollingsworth) and Alfred Taylor Holsenbeck in Clarendon, Texas. She married James Lee Crunk. Marcie owned Marcene's Modern Salon during the late 60's and 70's. She was named one of the outstanding young women in the 1969 edition of Outstanding Young Women of America. Marcie was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Lytle South Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting oil paintings and collecting music boxes. Marcie was also a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, John H. Guynes; a son, Russell Norman Crunk; a grandson, David Scott Rushing; a sister, Faye Rene Hendricks; and a step-brother, John H. Guynes, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, James Lee Crunk of Abilene; two sons, Steven Roy Rushing and wife, Pearl Faye, of Johnstown, Colorado and Jason Gregory and wife, Patricia, of Abilene; daughter, La Nita Rushing Bossier of Abilene; a brother, Odis Ray Holsenbeck and wife, Frances, of Brownwood, Texas; a sister, Vela Mae Becker and husband, Victor, of Navasota, Texas; a step-sister, Bertha Tyson of San Angelo, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
