A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Oplin Cemetery where his remains will be laid to rest with his parents and daughter. A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home on Highway 277 S.
Kenneth was born on November 15, 1963 in Abilene to the late Herman S. and Clara D. (Breeding) O’Shields. Kenneth was raised in Oplin (Callahan County). He graduated from Clyde High School in 1982 where he was a basketball player. Kenneth lost his father at a young age and formed a special bond with his mother that continued up until she passed away. He married the love of his life, Chris Giroux on September 4, 1993 together they created many special memories together. Kenneth could fix and work on anything he was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He initially opened his own roofing company. Kenneth had a full work history to name a few he worked for several ranchers, Callahan County, and did contract work for several others. Kenneth coached the Key City Little League team while his son played. At one time Kenneth had a full and outgoing personality he went above and beyond to take care of those he loved. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of music and the great outdoors. He was blessed with the support of his family as he endured life’s challenges.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 3-month-old baby girl, Audra Rachél O'Shields; and his father-in-law, Victor Giroux.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Christine O’Shields; his son, Samuel O’Shields and wife, Jessie Laird; his brothers, James O'Shields and his wife, Arletta, Richard O'Shields and his wife Tina; mother-in-law, Audrey Finlayson; sister and brother-in law, Carolyn Giroux and Bryce Giroux; uncles, Dickie Breeding and Douglas Breeding; his aunt, Cora Lee Lambert; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial contributions in Kenneth's name can be made to one of the following causes close to his heart: Hendrick Hospice, Meals on Wheels or West Texas Rehab.
