Karen M. Phillips, 52, passed away March 6, 2010 in a local medical center. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13th at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, officiated by Reverend Andrew Penns. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born April 11, 1957 in Cameron, Texas, Karen was the daughter of Raymond and Evelyn Foster Brooks. She attended Ector High School in Odessa, Texas. Karen started her journey with the Lord by attending Valley View Missionary Baptist Church in Abilene. She loved music and dancing and spoke Spanish very well. Karen was a good-natured person, and never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Everyone loved her.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Foster Brooks, three nephews, one great-nephew, one great-niece, and uncle Six Pack.
Survivors include her father, Raymond Brooks (Aline); two brothers, Jim Brooks (Wanda) and Wayne Brooks (Evelyn); nine sisters, Diane Bell (Billy), Shirley McClain, Patrisha Harris (Edgar), Evelyn Louise Brooks, Alice McGee (Mac), Rose Kelly, Alina Crain (Billy), Yolanda Paul and Pam Brooks; a host of nieces, nephews and friends, including special friends, Mrs. Hattie, Marilyn, Beverly, Debbie and Addie.
