Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Mikel Robles, Diego Siller, Adam Resendez, Marcus Resendez, JonJon Jacques, Sam Flores, Domingo Flores, Ron Resendez, Chilo Gomez, and Sonny Jiminez.
Joseph was born October 12, 1980 to Estefana (Resendez) and John (Juan) Flores in Anson, Texas. Rosalinda Siller-Flores and Joseph were together as one since 1995. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and special friend to all of us. Joseph broke out with GEM Drilling and also, worked for Spa Drilling, Classic Drilling, Heartland Drilling, and Ringo Drilling. At the time of his death, Joseph was employed by Union Drilling, Incorporated in the oil industry as a derrick hand for Rig 225. He grew up in Anson and later moved to Abilene and attended Franklin Middle School and later received his GED. Joseph liked to fish, hunt, and bar-b-queue with and for his family and friends and especially, his nephews. He was a great role model and father figure to his nephews. Joseph loved to coach his kids in sports and always spent his days off being active with them and coaching for his son’s first football team (Eagles). He always had a smile on his face and had a positive attitude about his outlook on life. Joseph was truly adored by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and will always be remembered.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Santiago and Rosa Flores and maternal grandparents, Emilio and Petra Resendez.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalinda Siller-Flores of Abilene; three daughters, Alexxis, Andrea, Marissa, and his only son, Joseph, Jr., all of Abilene; his parents, Juan and Estefana Flores of Abilene; brothers, Johnny Flores (Kathy) of Big Spring, Rainy (Dora) Resendez of Abilene, Macario “Chilo” Gomez of Abilene, and Emilio Flores (Cyndi) of Granbury, Texas; sisters, Cilvia (Tom) Ramirez of Seguin, Texas, Lori (Ray) McCasland of Arkansas, Gloria Robles of Abilene, Salome Gomez of Anson, Nadine Gomez-Charles of Abilene, and Cindy Flores of Arkansas; four uncles; four aunts; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous attending relatives from Phoenix, Arizona, Loveland, Colorado, and Arkansas.
