Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church in Abilene with Fr. Emilio Sosa, officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. The family will gather for visitation on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene.
Johnny was born on June 19, 1952 in Sterling City, Texas to the late Moses and Isabel “Elizabeth” (Gaitan) Rodriguez. He grew up in a large close-knit family where the values of hard work and faith were taught. Johnny met Elvira Sanchez in June of 1986 and together they shared many wonderful years of marriage. They relocated to Abilene in 1994 and were members of Sacred Heart and later St. Vincent Pallotti. Juan worked for Bandara Trucking for many years before retiring. He was an excellent pool player. He was very social and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He loved the outdoors hunting, and fishing. He will be remembered for his outing and upbeat personality, his jokes, and the pride he had in his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Rodriguez; sisters, Adelada Paredez, and Hilda Herrera.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elvira Rodriguez; children, Johnny Joe Rodriguez, Donnie Rodriguez, Adrian Rodriguez, Johnathan Rodriguez, and Eric Sanchez; his brothers, Moses, Jr. and David Rodriguez; sisters, Sandy Orona, Mary Mireless, and Maryanne Rodriguez; many cherished grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
