Joe Angel Arredondo Jr.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, Abilene, with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Joe was born February 29, 1936 to Joe Angel Arredondo, Sr. and Angelia DeLeon Arredondo in Robstown, Texas where he was raised. In 1953, he married Herminia Tejeda in Robstown, Texas. They moved from Robstown to Abilene, Texas in 1959. Joe was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church and was extremely active in the community. He was a passionate outdoorsman; loved to fish and barbeque; and enjoyed lots of different sports.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Herminia Arredondo; a son, Rudy Arredondo in 1992; and his brother, Alfonso Arredondo.

Survivors include two sons, Ruben Arredondo and wife, Micaela, of Burleston, Texas and Steve Arredondo and wife, Kellie, of Abilene; a daughter, Pat Arredondo of Abilene; two sisters, Aurora Romo of Robstown, Texas and Esperanza Valdez of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
