Graveside services will be held celebrating the life and legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Fowler on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Gap Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will gather on Thursday, December 17, 2020 for visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene followed by a procession to the cemetery.
Gayle was born on December 21, 1939 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Robert and Sylvia (Tidwell) Keheley. When she was old enough to work she joined her sisters at a young age working at the Wagon Wheel in Big Spring, Texas where she created memories that she enjoyed recalling. She married Joe H. Fowler on August 24, 1962 in Hobbs, New Mexico. From the time of their marriage up until their passing 4 days apart they were inseparable. Following marriage, they went on to live many places following her husband’s work but spent considerable time in Big Spring, Abilene, Argyle, Midland, and finally Decatur, TX. Gayle was a loving mother and a great homemaker. When she worked outside of the home she was usually a waitress. However, after her sister told her about a job at a local bank she embarked on a new professional career. She went on to attend Midland College and obtained her business degree. She was a former member of the American Business Women’s Association. While she was very proud of her professional accomplishments; her greatest job was being that of a wife and mother both of which she excelled. She enjoyed creating unique memories with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Holly Maryea; grandson, C.W. Robinson and on December 12, 2020 her devoted husband.
Gayle is survived by her three children, Sylvia Gayle Robinson and husband David, La Vonna Marie Robinson, and David Dwayne Fowler; grandchildren, Christopher, Raymond, Joseph, and Brian Robinson, and Amanda Strange; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 ½ great-great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Reynolds; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousin’s other relatives and friends.

Joe H. Fowler, 87, of Decatur, Texas passed away to join the Lord and his wife Gayle on December 12, 2020 at home with his family.
Joe was born on March 22, 1933 in Callahan County, Texas in the Dudley Community to the late, Walter A. and Lurlee Fowler. He was reared in Abilene. He married the love of his life Gayle on August 24, 1962 in Hobbs, New Mexico. While living in Camp Polk, LA (a place he was not fond of) he completed his GED in 1956. Following marriage, they went on to live many places as he followed work but spent considerable time in Big Spring, Abilene, Argyle, Midland, and finally Decatur, TX. He was a devoted husband, loving, father, and excellent provider. He will be remembered as an honorable man whose personal integrity exceeded most. He was a carpenter by trade and worked all over the country in the construction business. Always filled with a deep personal ambition he took on whatever challenge was necessary to get the job done.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Gayle Keheley Fowler; sister, Opal Smith; brother, Lloyd Cecil Fowler; and grandson, C.W. Robinson.
Joe is survived by her three children, Sylvia Gayle Robinson and husband David, La Vonna Marie Robinson, and David Dwayne Fowler; grandchildren, Christopher, Raymond, Joseph, and Brian Robinson, and Amanda Strange; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 ½ great-great-grandchildren; brother, Walter A.
