Joanne Elizabeth Rose

Joanne Elizabeth Rose, 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at a local hospital in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Monday, October 20, 2014 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Joanne was born in Covington, VA on September 30, 1936 to the late Charles and Alice Goff Fridley. She graduated from Covington High School in 1954 and entered the U.S. Air Force in December serving from 1954 – 1963. She married Frank A. Rose on October 9, 1959. Her family moved to Abilene in 1979 from Zaragoza, Spain and she retired in 2005 from Civil Service after 38 years.

Joanne enjoyed helping others and going on mission trips with Highland Church of Christ. She was known to put others before herself and will be truly missed.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and a grandson, Diamon Gonzalez. Survivors include her son, Frank Rose and wife, Karen; daughter, Jodi Rose Rubio and husband, Joseph; a brother Edward Fridley and a sister, Nancy Fridley both of Virginia; grandchildren, Domingo Gonzalez, Jr., Dakota Rose Gonzalez, Desarai Rose Gonzalez Hay and husband, Eric, Shirdon Brown; and great-grandchildren, Elisia Rose Rueda, and Baelynn Rose Hay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highland Church of Christ Food Pantry.
