Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, with Steve Smith officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jimmy was born April 9, 1921 in Whitmer, West Virginia, to Harry L. and Vernie Fairburn Dugger. Jimmy was reared in West Virginia and lived in Pennsylvania before entering the service during WWII. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, retiring as Captain on May 1, 1968. He piloted the B-29 and the KC-97. A career airman, he was stationed at Dyess AFB two times. He retired at Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1968 and came back to Abilene. From 1984 until 1992 he lived in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, before returning to Abilene. Jimmy married Marthiel Smith in Altus, Oklahoma on March 14, 1975. In Abilene, Jimmy was a member of VFW Post 5683 of Merkel where he served as chaplain and was a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge #136, serving as president of the lodge for many years. He was a member of Baker Heights Church of Christ.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Marthiel Dugger; 1 daughter, Judy Earl Elliott, 4 brothers, Roy E. Dugger, Harry Dugger, Ted Dugger, and Kenneth Dugger.
Survivors include two sons, James Robert Dugger and Frederick Dugger (Becky), all of Scottdale, PA; daughter, Linda Lee Hall (David) of Abilene; 2 brothers, Robert Dugger and Joseph Dugger, both of Scottdale, PA; four grandsons, James Dugger (Karen), Andrew Dugger (Melissa), Alexander Dugger and Aaron Dugger; and 5 great-grandchildren: Kayliegh, Kelsey, Maggie, Lexi, and Jacob Andrew Dugger.
