Jan was born January 15, 1947 in Haskell, TX to the late Henry and Beryl West. She spent her early years in Haskell and attended school there. She later moved to Stephenville to attend nursing school. Jan has spent her life working at hospitals and later nursing homes. She spent many years teaching nurses aids at Coronado Nursing Home.
She is survived by her son, Wade Couch and wife Heidi; grandchildren, Alicyn and Blake; great grandchildren, Skylar, Nova and Erik; one sister, Patsy Williamson; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her brothers, Dalton and R. D. West and two sisters, Naida Williamson and Tillie Griggs.
A visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
