Jamie graduated from Comanche High School in 1957 and attended Tarleton State. He married Patsy Hulsey in 1959 in De Leon, Texas. In 1963 they moved to Abilene where Jamie and his father established Sunbeam Cookies, Inc., which he owned and operated until he sold the company in 1984.
After many years of working long hours Jamie enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He took up golf and he and Patsy traveled all over the world together. He took great enjoyment from daily walks in his neighborhood and talking with neighbors along the way, as well as keeping in touch with immediate and extended family members, friends, and former classmates. He was a lifelong football fan from the Cooper Cougars to the Dallas Cowboys. Jamie was truly one-of-a-kind and was well known for his unique sense of humor. He could – and did – talk to anyone.
As a member of First Baptist Church, assisting the bereavement committee was especially meaningful to him.
Jamie is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and one who would do anything to help his friends and relatives.
Jamie is survived by his wife Patsy, son David Oden and wife Eileen of Dallas, daughter Jennifer Misko and husband Jim of Dripping Springs, and grandchildren Amy Oden, Bryan Oden, Jacob Misko, and Nicholas Misko.
