Mrs. Imogene Jones Lott, daughter of the late Ollie Mae Moore and Augustus Jones
was born on March 30, 1929 in Jefferson, Texas in Marion County. She went home
to be with the Lord on January 4, 2020.
She received her early education in Jefferson, Texas and enjoyed telling many stories about the students and teachers and her learning experiences in the one-room school house.
In Vernon, Texas on April 24, 1949 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Bernest James Lott, Sr. To this union they were blessed with four children. Her spiritual journey began the following Sunday after her marriage. She joined Antioch Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church.
Sister Imogene was an active member and participated on several Boards and Auxiliaries until her health began to fail in 2017. She was a member of the E.J. Lott Circle, the Stewardess Board ( where she served as treasurer), the Missionary Society, the Antioch C.M.E Church Choir and the church’s annual fundraising effort, The Red and White Tea.
Sister Imogene worked in private homes for several years. However, she was very excited when the opportunity arose and she secured a position at U.S. Brass in Abilene and also the Valley Faucet Factory in Abilene. In her later years, Mrs. Assisted at the G.V. Daniels Senior Center, volunteered at the Taylor County Fair and the Paramount Theater.
Her death brings to close a life well-lived.
