A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Potosi Cemetery where her remains will be laid to rest next to her late husband. Services will be officiating by Father Albert Ezeanya of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Helen was born on February 4, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ambrose and Caroline (Prospect) Lodzinski. She married the late Richard Guy Shults on February 2, 1946. After marriage the coupled settled in her husband’s home state of Texas where he was a part of a large family. Helen and Richard had one daughter, Theresa Ann. Helen was a devoted home maker, and care giver. Throughout the years she worked at different times for Carroll’s Welding and Oxygen in Abilene as a bookkeeper. In the early years she and husband enjoyed square dancing with friends and family. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic church where she was a member of several church auxiliaries to include, the Alter Society and the Choir. Anything Helen did she gave it her all. In 2006 she embarked on a new journey in life and relocated to be close to her daughter’s family in Anchorage, Alaska. Helen joined Saint Benedict's Catholic Church in Anchorage. She enjoyed being closer to her family and enjoying her daughter’s family tradition of gathering on Mondays nights for dinner with all four generations of the family making memories together. Helen was a loving and caring person, her memory will live on in her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Helen’s long life brings to a close a journey of hard work, faith, and dedication to those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Guy Shults; her brother, Edward Lodzinski.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Theresa Ann Stoddard and her husband Roy Dale; her grandchildren, David Stoddard and his wife Laura, Jason Stoddard and his wife, Misty; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Cadie, Macie, and Cole all of Anchorage Alaska; her sister-in-law, Marie Turney; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
