Helen Marietta Lynch, 87, passed away on May 13, 2012 in Ft. Worth, TX. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation at 10:30a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Helen was born on March 1, 1925 in Mine Hill, New Jersey and raised by Joseph and Esther Vesse Bendek. She graduated from high school in Morristown, New Jersey in 1943 and married Joseph James Lynch, Sr. on March 5, 1950 in Far Hills, New Jersey. Helen was employed as an executive secretary in California before moving and retiring in Abilene. She belonged to the R.S.V.P. (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program), Cobb Park Senior Citizens Center, AARP, and most recently active at the Rose Park Senior Citizens Center. Helen also volunteered at the Abilene State School. She grew up Roman Catholic, but recently had become a faithful member of the Sarah Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Of all the places she lived, she loved Abilene the best.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Julia Pritchard, Elizabeth Secula, Ann Koeck, and Stephanie Rosa; and one brother, Anthony Tartaglia.
Survivors include a son, Joseph J. Lynch, Jr. of Weatherford, TX; two daughters, Wanda Ann Rivera of Saugus, CA; and Deborah Ann Lynch of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Joseph (Jack) Bendek of Bullhead City, AZ; two grandchildren, David James Lynch and his fiancé, Angie and Brianna Leigh Rivera; two great-grandsons, Thomas Andrew Lynch and Coby Evan Lynch; and a nephew, Richard Secula.
