Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2:00pm at Tye Baptist Church in Tye followed by interment at Tye Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be at Elliott Hamil Funeral Home 6-8pm on Wednesday.
Harold was born on August 30, 1942 in Elmira, New York to Harold Boyd, Sr. and Betty Madison Ford in 1942. He lived in Millport, New York until entering the United States Air Force in 1960. He was stationed at Dyess AFB where he met the love of his life Phyllis Boyd. He married Phyllis on June 17, 1965 and they remained married for 56 years. They had three children and have 9 grandchildren. They lived in Abilene until 1978. He was honorably discharged in 1965 after suffering an injury. He worked for Lavenders Cafeteria as General Manager until 1967. He later worked for Lockheed Martin where he worked until retirement in 2003. In 1978 they moved their family to Tye where Harold served his community for many years as city council and volunteer fireman for 22 years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease a short time later. Prior to retirement Harold and Phyllis opened Rinky Dink snack bar and game room where many memories and friends were made. During that time period he also began working as a handyman in the community of Tye taking care of “his ladies” as he fondly referred to all of the elderly women that he served in the years. He also served until no longer able in the VFW post where again he met and made many friends. Harold and Phyllis attend the Tye Baptist Church in the last several years and considered it their church home.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents Harold Sr., and Betty Stoddard; step father, Ford Stoddard, brother Charles Boyd; and son Sgt. 1st Class Harold (Morty) Boyd, III, U.S. Army
Harold is survived by his wife Phyllis; brothers William Boyd and Gary Boyd; his daughters. Stephanie Lebowitz and Spouse Scott of Merkel, Stacy Holan and Spouse Waylon of Wichita Falls, Gena Gilbert; grandsons Bill Dakan and Spouse Lindsey, Kody Dakan and spouse Toni, Aaron Holan and spouse Hannah, Wyatt Boyd, Garrett Boyd, Tyler Hainley; granddaughters, Kayce Pfeffer and spouse Andrew, Shelby Holan, Keilah Channell. Harold is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Bill Dakan, Kody Dakan, Aaron Holan, Scott Lebowitz, Tyler Hainley, Andrew Pfeffer and Waylon Holan.
