A compassionate, and godly man, with a wonderful smile that could light up any room, Gregory B. Bell went home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 55. He was born in Abilene, TX to Helen Simmons.
Greg was married for thirty-four years to his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Cynthia Simone Bell also of Abilene. They raised three girls, Candice Thompson, Whitni Bell, and Cymanthia Davenport. The joy of his life were his children and grandchildren.
Greg graduated from Abilene High School in 1982 where he made lifelong friends. He was an Army veteran who served proudly in Operation Desert Storm until medically discharged in 1993. Greg was a Senior Systems Engineer for Getronics when he passed. He was deeply devoted to his family, friends and church. Greg enjoyed sports, the outdoors, chess, and game nights with loved ones. He simply loved fun.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Cynthia Simone Bell; daughters and son-in-laws, Candice and Nelson Thompson, Whitni Bell, and Cymanthia and Ronald Davenport; grandchildren, Kaiori Edwards, Thailia Davenport, Ronnie Davenport, Ladaia Davenport, Jakhari Williams, and Jailani Williams; mother, Helen Simmons; brothers and sister-in-law, Victor and Michelle Simmons, Thomas Simmons; and sister and brother-in-law, Cymanthia and Paul Evans; and a host of nieces and nephews he loved like his own children.
Gregory was preceded in death by his grandparents Ethel Mae and Lorenza “Tank” Thomas; and his brother, Michael Simmons.
A funeral service will be held Dec 17, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church, 608 N. 7th St. Abilene, TX 79601 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
