Eugene was born on October 28, 1947 in New York. Eugene never knew his birth parents and was raised in foster care. During this time, he developed close relationship ties with his foster siblings that he cherished for the rest of his life. Eugene joined the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully for 12 years. After his family was stationed at Dyess and he made a career change he eventually stayed and settled in Abilene. While working at ACU he met Sheila Bunch whom he married in 1989. Together they joined two families from previous marriages. He loved to cook and he and Sheila eventually relocated to Ruidoso, New Mexico and opened a burger restaurant. They eventually returned back to Abilene and Gene began working at ACU again in food services. He will be remembered by his family for his love, and being a kind hearted person. He was patient, and never raised his voice however knew how to get his point across. He loved fishing, reading the newspaper, yard work, and enjoying the beauty of country living. He was laid back and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his family and gatherings. He had a great memory and always remembered family birthdays. His passing has left a void in the heart of his family that will be filled with precious memories.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny and Lawrence Lynch, and Rodney Allston.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Jones; children, Erika Jones, Eugene Jones, Jr., Katherine Jones, Angel Jones, Cody Bunch, and Jessica Bunch; numerous loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Sandra Alston, Gerald Allston, Marie Riddick, Michael Sandler, and Darlene Moodby.
The family will gather privately at a later date to celebrate his life.
