Edith Ruth Heilhecker, 80, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 in Abilene. She was born on August 6, 1943 in Austin, Texas to the late Oscar Garner and Bertha (Horne) Garner. Edith loved and adored her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Heilhecker of Abilene; children, Samuel Ramsey and wife Nancy of Erie, Colorado, Michelle Ramsey Strayer and husband Shawn of Dacono, Colorado, Rhonda Kelley and husband Daniel of Dawson, Texas, and John Heilhecker and wife Amy of Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, Cooper and wife Tyler, Mackenzie and husband Reese, Nolan, Sophie and husband Ethan, Hunter, Chase, Ryder, Lily, and Noah; great-grandchildren, John Allen Edwin and Everette Ray; one sister, Janice Kitz. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Thurmond.
A visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Rev. Clyde Kieschnick will officiate. Private graveside committal services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Chillicothe Cemetery, Chillicothe, Texas.
