Edith Florence Chapman went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully on Monday June 24, 2024. She was born on April 22, 1945 to Clarence and Phebe Crocker. She graduated from Spring Lake High School in 1963. In 1985 she married her sweetheart Charlie Mack Chapman. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She had a love for singing the gospel, fishing, and spending time with family. She worked for Sears Roebuck and Company for several years before working at Dr. Albritton’s office as a receptionist for over 25 years until she retired.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandma, and granmama. She is survived by her children Jimmy King, Teresa and Chad Chapman, and Dan and Michelle Jacobson; grandchildren Charles, Jon, Nathan, Kevin, Candace, Chris, Ashley, and Ciera; great-grandchildren Makaya, Tristan, Eli, Elijah, Kimberley, Emily, David, JD, Joseph, Benjamin, Grace, Ivey, Brock, Keaton, Briley, Kylie, Madison, Evelyn, Katie, Blake, Braydon, Lillyan, and Aniyah; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her husband Mack Chapman; her son Donny King; her parents Clarence and Phebe Crocker; her siblings Robert Henry Crocker, Raymond “Buster” Wesley Crocker and Imogane, Elmer “Tubby” Hollis Crocker and Barbara, James “Pete” Oliver Crocker and Thema, David “Dub” Daniel Crocker, Daisy Evelyn Hanson and Ray, Eddie “Slim” Clarence Crocker and Treva Joe “TJ,” Joseph “Joe” Perry Crocker, and Effie Elner Hickey and Bobby.
Family, friends, and the ones whose lives were touched by Edith are welcome to join us for her service on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Hamby Methodist Church, 128 CR 503, Abilene, Texas 79601. Viewing will be at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas, Friday, June 28, 2024 from 6 pm - 8pm.
