Doris Carrington

Doris Carrington, 91, of Abilene was called home on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 608 N. 7th St., Abilene with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Doris was born on March 8, 1926 in Jewett, TX to the late Alex and Alpheia Williams. She retired as a nurse from Hendrick Medical Center in 1988.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Glen Carrington; and a daughter, Doris Newman. Survivors include her sons, Samuel Carrington of Grand Prairie, TX and Joe Carrington, Sr. of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Vernell Williams of Ft. Worth and EJ Williams of Grand Prairie; five grandchildren, Joe Carrington, Jr., Terrance Carrington, Tammy Lynn Carrington, Jeremy Newman Carrington, and Joshua Lamar Carrington; four great-grandchildren, Joe Carrington III, Essence Leann Carrington, Mia Olivarez, and Terrance Le'Vohn Carrington, Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
