Born December 6th, 1956, he loved spending time with his grandparents, especially during peach season. After graduating high school, he went to work and met his first wife, Donna. With Donna came his oldest son, Jayson Lester, and then his daughter Amanda Sasser.
Despite being a self-labeled introvert, he became an accomplished salesman. First selling auto parts and eventually working for himself as a Snap-On tool dealer.
When Donna passed in 2007 after more than 25 years of marriage, Dan was lucky enough to meet the second love of his life, Marcy Sasser. Late in life, Dan became a father again when he and Marcy brought Colton Sasser into their home.
Dan had many hobbies in his life from horse riding as a young man to riding motorcycles in his 40s and 50s. But the one he kept up with the longest was golf. Not just playing but also buying selling and trading all things golf related. He was always ready to make a deal. And if you weren't interested in golf paraphernalia, then he might have a Jeep or two to trade instead.
As much as Dan enjoyed a good deal, he was quick to share any good fortune with those he cared for and sometimes complete strangers. Generosity came so naturally to him that he always seemed surprised that others didn't feel the same.
When the doctors told him he didn't have long to live, he put his foot down and said to them they were wrong. He defied the odds and lived five times what the doctors expected.
Dan is survived by his wife, Marcy Rea Sasser; his three children, Jayson Lester, Amanda Sasser, and Colton Sasser; as well as two siblings, Don Sasser and Becky Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marlin Ray and Bessie Irma Sasser, and his wife Donna Kay Sasser.
In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.elliott-hamil.com for the Sasser family.
