Cynthia Ann Stapleton Green was born October 18, 1914 to Zeno and Sephronia Stapleton in Placid, Texas. She was one of seven children and the last to pass away on May 5, 2012. The Stapleton family lived in and around Marble Falls, Texas all of their lives with Cynthia starting on her own journey on October 6, 1934 when she married her love, Fred C. Green. Cynthia was a loving mother and always provided meals from her wonderful gardens - jams and jellies, and her forever famous apricot fried pies and luscious cinnamon rolls. No restaurant could match her! She saw that all of her children had beautiful clothes to wear including shirts for her son, Jimmy. Sandra and Sonja were envied in school because of Cynthia's expert seamstress work. Her roses were the envy of everyone.
Cynthia was Mother to Tracy Lee Green {deceased}, Sonja Green, Jimmy Green, and Sandra Green Burt. Her husband of 54 years, Fred C. Green, preceded her in death as well as their first born child, Tracy Lee, whom she always referred to as having eyes as blue as the ocean.
Cynthia was 97 1/2 years at passing while all of her brothers and sister lived to be almost that age including her parents, but she surpassed them all in this race of life. She was a Christian and was baptized at an early age instilling in her children, the urgency of always holding onto Christian beliefs and practicing a loyal and faithful life to the Lord.
Left behind to reminisce are her children, Sonja Green of Abilene, Jimmy Green and wife, Terie of Canton, Texas, and Sandra Green Burt and husband, Jack, of Levelland, Texas; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also mourn her passing.
The family is requesting everyone read John 14:1-8 in honor of Cynthia Ann.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, Abilene. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
