Cheryl Tunnell Kitch

Cheryl Kitch, 62, a beloved mother, daughter, and sister passed away on the morning of April 3rd, 2025 in the comfort of her home after living with cancer for 7 years. Cheryl was born on June 17th, 1962 in Pomona, California. Cheryl’s life was a testament to a life dedicated to Christ.

Though you wouldn’t know it, because Cheryl was sometimes reserved, she was quite the world traveler from a young age. After living in Pomona until the age of 7, Cheryl and her family moved to Adelaide, Australia. A short year later, the family moved to the island of Fiji on a bible mission trip for six months. Cheryl fondly remembered her time in Fiji noting the beauty of the island and the delicious fruit! The family moved back to the United States and after a brief time back in California, settled in Cedar Park, Texas until Cheryl was 15. She often told stories of zooming around on mini bikes, riding horses, and playing with close friends and cousins while living in Texas. The family moved once more, to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Cheryl spent the majority of her young adult and adult years.

Cheryl loved the mountains in Albuquerque and often found time to hike in the foothills behind her house. Her other passions included gardening and her beautiful petunias that would bloom like clockwork on Mother’s Day. While she loved the mountains, one of her favorite spots was the beach where she enjoyed listening to the waves. Though, you wouldn’t catch her swimming too far off shore as she said the movie Jaws had scarred her as a teenager.

Many people close to Cheryl noted her strength, good nature, and positivity. She was an excellent host that opened her home to anyone and everyone. Though she faced trials through her life, Cheryl kept a vision of our coming hope and the Kingdom.

Cheryl is survived by her mother and father, Deanna and Dwayne, her sister, Sandra, and her daughter Samantha. Though her sleep will be short, she will be missed dearly.
