Brandon G. Phillips

On May 8, 1971, in Denver, CO, Brandon Gene Phillips was born to Dan Phillips and Cathy Cuelho Phillips at St. Anthony's. Brandon lived in Pueblo, CO until he was transplanted to Abilene, Texas at the age of 10 in 1981. Brandon grew up with one sibling; a sister named Brenda. They had the typical sibling relationship but were inseparable. Brandon had the joy of playing sports during his childhood. He was involved in flag football, baseball and Junior High Football. Although he excelled in those experiences Brandon's most memorable achievement would be the survival of diabetes in the early 70s. He grew up with cousins and family around that he made many special memories with. Brandon had also established great friendships while growing up. Some of his best friends were Sean George and Scott Brunyer. Later in life he would remain best friends with Sean.

Brandon attended Wylie schools and graduated from Wylie High School in 1989. His favorite class in high school was math. Brandon was an introvert who was more comfortable in one-on-one interaction. He preferred quiet time, didn't like to be around a lot of people, and wanted to understand things before taking action. Brandon relied on clear, concrete information. He used common sense, created practical solutions to problems and lived in the present.

Brandon had a career in plumbing and pipefitting, in which he retired in 2011 after helping build the Hendrick Medical Center 2010 project. At one point he worked full time as a plumber and part time as a paramedic. He moved onto a career in EMS, getting his start with the View Volunteer Fire Department in 2008. Brandon quickly progressed through the ranks of EMS eventually obtaining his Flight Paramedic Certification. He was a big part of helping the EMS transition from a volunteer service to a paid service back in 2011. While working EMS, Brandon obtained his degree in Emergency Medical Technology from Kilgore College, and then moved on to Creighton University to obtain his Flight Paramedic Certification. All the while continuing his education, Brandon also taught for PERCOM University teaching those who wanted to further their career in EMS and working towards becoming a Paramedic. Brandon flew air medical, both fixed and rotor wing, for First Flight and Apollo. He was also an instructor, clinical supervisor, and board President. Brandon was not one to make decisions in haste. He made them based on facts and logic and had the ability to notice when action was needed. He was objective and accepted conflicts as normal in relationships. Brandon would speak his mind, with no filter, but he would take the time to listen to the opinion of others. However at the end of the day he did it his way!

Later on, Brandon would meet and marry the love of his life, Allessandra (Alle) Allcorn. The union of these two souls took place on March 14th, 2016, at Couples Tower Isle in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Brandon was comfortable jumping into action and planning on the go. He was flexible and free. Brandon followed his wife moving to Amarillo/Canyon in Aug 2019 due to a promotion for her career. With Alle receiving another promotion in 2022, they prepared for one more move back to Abilene in Feb 2023 to be close to family.

In his spare time, Brandon loved to go camping and fishing. He also enjoyed going 4x4 Rock climbing, Trail riding and taking naps. Brandon also enjoyed scuba diving through the years going to Puerto Rico, Cozumel, Honduras, and Jamaica, just to name a couple of places. Among many things, Brandon enjoyed being a Volunteer Firefighter with View VFD, and helping others in their most difficult times. He was an avid lover of dogs, which he had many over the years, but not just dogs, he had cats, parrots, a bearded dragon, salt-water aquarium – basically his own zoo! Brandon also enjoyed giving everyone a hard time, but he had a heart so big he would help others no matter what. If the man cared for you – you knew it. He was there for so many over the years.

Brandon is survived by his wife, Allessandra Phillips of Abilene; 2 stepchildren, Nicholas Dodgen, of Belton, TX, and Catarina Miller, of Denton, TX; his father and stepmother, Dan and Myra Phillips; stepbrother, Jimmie Baxter, all of Abilene, TX. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-Law, Jimmy and Michelle Allcorn of Coleman; sister-in-law and Husband, Anita and Jeremy Beal of Hamby; brother-in-law and wife, Jason Titsworth and Holly Watson of Coleman; sister-in-law and husband, Misty and Anthony Remley of Coleman, and many aunts and uncles, as well as nieces and nephews.

Brandon is preceded in death by his mother, Cathy Phillips; sister, Brenda Kaye Phillips; stepdaughter, Alexandria Dodgen; his grandparents, Clifford and Mildred Phillips and Bob and Betty Jo Whittemore.

The family was grateful for Hendrick Hospice for their care of Brandon in his last days, along with family and friends with Prayers through that difficult time.
